Where Am I?
Sen. Claire McCaskill, Democrat of Missouri, thinks some of her constituents’ mailing addresses are among “the dumbest things I’ve come across”: they’re in Iowa. It’s not clear why or when it happened, or how many people it affects, but the U.S. Postal Service assigned Iowa addresses to some rural residences on the Missouri side of the state line. McCaskill’s office is working on the problem, which poses a particular danger in Clark County because of a new 911 system that needs correct addresses. Meanwhile, about 30 residents in that one county have the courthouse listed as their voting address, and Iowa’s government has told some Missourians that they need to file Iowa taxes. (AC/AP) ...They’d use the courthouse as their tax address, but who wants to pay that much property tax?Original Publication Date: 03 December 2017
