A Focused Thief

Police in Martins Ferry, W.Va., are looking for a man who broke into a convenience store. Surveillance video shows the suspect threw a brick through the window, then ran straight to the back of the store, past cash, cigarettes, and liquor. He left with one thing: an empty, 4 foot tall gumball machine. “We can’t figure out a motive as of yet,” said Martins Ferry Police Detective Bob Walton. “The gumball machine was empty of gumballs and money.” Police suspect he either had a getaway vehicle or ran into a house nearby. “When he left, he was carrying a 4-foot-tall gumball machine,” Walton said, “so he obviously wouldn’t be running straight down Main Street or Zane Highway.” (MS/WTOV Steubenville (Ohio)) ...The gumshoes are on the case, though.
