A Harmless DrugPolice in Phoenix pulled over a driver at 11:00 p.m. after he allegedly almost caused an accident. Manuel Pena, 19, admitted he had been smoking marijuana, and was on his way home after a beer run. He was arrested for driving under the influence. Officers gave a ride home to his passengers: his girlfriend, Catalina Clouser, 19, and their 2-month-old baby. Two hours later, police got another call: a baby was found in the middle of a street in a car seat. Clouser apparently didn’t want to stay home on a Saturday night, so she drove to a friend’s house, 12 miles away, to smoke more pot, she says. She then headed to another friend’s house, and when she arrived there she found her baby boy wasn’t in the car. She realized she had left him in his car seat — on the roof of the car. By the time she retraced her route, police had taken the boy into protective custody. He was unharmed. Clouser was also charged with DUI, as well as child abuse. She was released from jail after being told by a judge that she cannot see her baby, drink alcohol, or drive a car with any passenger under 18 years old. (RC/Arizona Republic) ...Whew! Thank goodness he didn’t say anything about smoking pot!
