Barter Bargain

A store in Corvallis, Ore., called police to report a man had taken some beer, leaving a snake on the counter. Officers quickly caught up with the suspect, who said he had “worked out a deal” with the store, and that he could “take whatever he wanted” in exchange for the snake. Officers disabused him of that notion, returned the beer to the store, and cited the man for theft and trespassing. “The snake was released on its own recognizance,” the newspaper reported. (RC/Corvallis Gazette-Times) ...Reasonable, since it was obviously more reliable than the suspect.
