Bloodbath

It took police in Fayetteville, N.C., a bit to put it all together, but according to their resulting report, Raufeal Waddy, 22, and Terrel Battlewere, 26, had tried to steal Maria Guevara’s purse in front of her apartment building. When they stuck a gun in her face, she began screaming, alerting family and friends who lived in the same building. Ten or 15 of them rushed out to put an end to what residents say has been a long history of robberies in the area. “Both suspects were shot during the initial struggle, with the suspect’s [own] gun,” a police spokesman said, “and then the family severely beat, stabbed and cut both suspects.” One is in the hospital on life support; the other was treated and released. Guevara’s family “got a little rough because they didn’t know how many more weapons they had, so they wanted to keep it under control,” said a friend in the building. (JW/Fayetteville Observer) ...That’s their story, and they’re sticking to it.
