Bright Idea

The Innis and Gunn brewery put up a billboard on Leith Walk in Edinburgh, Scotland, celebrating “unexpected sunshine on Leith.” That was too literal for Ruari Kaylor, who found the billboard’s bright lights lit up his bedroom at night. “Behold,” Kaylor tweeted. “The advertising board that lights up my room across the road every night.” The brewery responded quickly. “We celebrated a snippet of Edinburgh sunshine last week with one of our reactive posters,” Innis & Gunn Founder and Master Brewer Douglas Sharp said. “But we had no idea we’d shine so brightly for our friend Ruari.” The company sent Kaylor some beer — and sunglasses — to apologize. They also updated the sign to read, “Unexpected Sunshine in Ruari’s room.” (MS/Edinburgh Scotman) ...Customer service: taking care of what’s wrong, one customer at a time.
