Make It Stop

“People are always running the stop sign at this intersection,” Bruce Homer, 61, told Lake County, Fla., sheriff’s deputies, “and since you guys don’t do anything about it, I did.” What he said he did, according to the sheriff’s office, was pull into the same lane as an SUV that had run the stop sign, causing a head-on collision. Homer told the SUV’s driver and passenger, “You ran the stop sign, and this is the 10th accident at this intersection, and they won’t do something about it ’til someone dies.” In fact, the sheriff’s office documented almost 70 traffic stops at the Clermont intersection, mostly for not stopping at the stop sign. The crash may not have been Homer’s first attempt to address the problem: “I ran some guy off the road after I saw him blow through the intersection,” he told a deputy. Homer was charged with reckless driving, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. (AC/WKMG Orlando) ...Vigilante, stop thyself!
