Earle Gustavas Stevens, 69, had a bottle of bourbon in his passenger seat, a police report says. And he was talking to an officer — in slurred words on alcohol tainted breath — because another customer at a Vero Beach, Fla., McDonald’s drive through said he’d driven into her bumper repeatedly. But Stevens made it clear to the police that he was not drinking while driving — just “when he stopped for stop signs and traffic signals,” the report notes.
