North by Northwest
A man broke into a business at a strip mall in Vancouver, Wash., at 4:00 a.m. — and called 911 “several times” for help because he couldn’t figure out how to get back out. The business: Northwest Escape Experience, which offers “escape rooms” to people where they can pay a fee to be locked in so they can try to find a way out. By the time sheriff’s deputies arrived, Rye D. Wardlaw, 40, indeed had escaped — apparently by punching through a wall — and allegedly admitted that he broke in to there, a rehab facility, and the mall’s electrical room because he is homeless and “has no place to be.” He was charged with three counts of burglary and jailed on $40,000 bond.
