Having lost a leg didn’t stop David Phillips, 44, from breaking into houses in Perth, Scotland, to steal jewels and computers. Until, that is, he left a trail of only right footprints — plus crutch marks — through the mud all the way from a crime scene to his apartment. “It was not the hardest series of crimes to solve,” said a police source. “Even Inspector Clouseau might have managed to collar him.” A court sentenced Phillips to 40 months in prison. “He is hoping a prosthetic leg will be available soon,” says his attorney, John McLaughlin, “which will enable him to lead a more active life.” (AC/Glasgow Daily Record) ...Including what, purse-snatchings?
