Court of Law, Court of Justice — What’s the Difference?

Raquel Nelson, 30, was crossing the street with her children in Marietta, Ga., when a car ran over her 4-year-old boy. The boy was killed; the driver sped off. Driver Jerry L. Guy already had two convictions for hit-and-run driving, including one with a serious injury. He admitted he had been drinking prior to the accident. He pleaded guilty to hit-and-run driving, and served 6 months in jail. But Nelson is facing up to three years in prison: she was not in a crosswalk as she led her children across the street, and has been convicted of jaywalking and, therefore, homicide by vehicle. (RC/Atlanta Journal-Constitution) ...Justice may have been served, but it was served cold.
