Ding Dong, Moron Calling

David Dungan has a “doorbell cam” at his Salinas, Calif., home’s front door. He and his wife were out of town when they started getting alerts that someone was at the front door during the early morning hours, and he assumed it was his stepson coming home from work. When they arrived back home, they looked at the camera video: a man apparently came and went from the stoop over three hours, and at one point briefly, but passionately, licked an intercom panel. Officers recognized the man from prior contacts: Roberto Daniel Arroyo, 33, “declined to discuss allegations he’d been overly intimate with the intercom,” and investigators sent the case to the district attorney, recommending charges of prowling, theft, and violation of probation. “I thought I’ve seen it all,” said neighbor Alfred Santos, “but this takes the cake.” (RC/Salinas Californian, KION Monterey) ...Oh, there was cake? Well no wonder!
