Dog To-Do

Animal control officials in Phoenix, Ariz., say 6,000 calls came in last year from the Maryvale neighborhood, which is overpopulated with stray dogs — the vast majority about a single breed. “If at all possible, if you see a stray, if you can safely contain him in your yard and then call us, that makes a big difference,” said Melissa Gable of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. The same breed has created problems in another neighborhood, too, but we’re not talking pit bulls. “Normally, there’s chihuahuas all over out here, and they do chase you on your bike, but I’m not scared of nothing,” said Sherman Park resident Michelle Deleon. (AC/KNXV Phoenix, KTVK Phoenix) ...You know what’s worse than too many stray chihuahuas? Too many pampered pet chihuahuas.
