Eminent Domain Name

About three years ago, the city of Springfield, Fla., switched its website address from a .org domain to a .gov. Everything seemed to be fine until after the old domain expired and the city started getting complaints. Instead of a notice about the new website or city information, people going to the old address saw a Japanese adult site. “We have no control over that,” Mayor Ralph Hammond said. “We’re getting accused of placing that site out there, but the city of Springfield has nothing to do with it.” The city’s I.T. department is trying to buy back the old domain. In the meantime, Hammond emphasized, residents should not go to the old website for city-related business. (MS/Panama City News Herald) ...Sounds like the website at the old address has more reliable “service.”
