Flight of Honor
The Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Honor Flight takes veterans on an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C, where they can visit the memorials for the wars in which they served. Anthony Mancinelli flew on their 22nd mission. “We are continually amazed by the real life stories of the veterans who sign up,” said area Honor Flight chairman Frank Kimler. “This flight truly bridges many generations.” Indeed so: Mancinelli, 108, is a World War II veteran, and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest barber — he’s been cutting hair since 1942, and still works at Fantastic Cuts in New Windsor. (MS/Warwick Advertiser, Middletown Times Herald Record) ...Mysteriously, there was a lot of dust in everyone’s eyes wherever the vets went.Original Publication Date: 14 April 2019
