God Wasn’t Her Co-Pilot

After investigating a crash in Wantagh, N.Y., police arrested the driver for drunk driving. Lauren M. Hanley, 68, allegedly admitted she had drunk half of the bottle of gin police found in her car, and her blood alcohol reading was 0.18 percent — more than twice the legal limit. Police note Hanley is a nun, and was driving a church-owned vehicle on her way home from work at the St. Frances de Chantal Church, where she is the spiritual development director.
