Hazardous Materials

Someone looking for recyclable items along a road near Hurlock, Md., called 911 after finding something unusual: a cache of hand grenades. Responding Maryland State Police officers confirmed the find and called in the bomb squad. Of the 38 grenades found, nine were live, 19 had a fuse but no explosives, and 10 were inert. In a statement, the Maryland State Fire Marshal reported, “The devices were determined to be hazardous and procedures were conducted immediately at the scene.” (RC/WBFF Baltimore) ...“Procedures”: official-speak for pulling the pins and throwing them at tree stumps.
