Immigration Reform

Authorities have had enough, and are finally cracking down hard on illegals crossing the Mexican border. Not American officials, but Mexico’s: they’ve had it with sport fishermen crossing into Mexico from California, into their territorial waters, without passports, fishing permits, or tourist permits. Mexico normally just warns boaters and tells them to turn around, but that wasn’t working: Mexico estimates they’re now dealing with 40,000 to 50,000 such incidents every year. Mexican authorities warn that boaters will be taken into custody, processed, and deported. “It will be an inconvenience,” promises María de los Remedios Gómez Arnau of the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, but they will not be charged with a crime.
