Just Like That

People enjoying a nice day at a park in Sequim, Wash., were shocked when two men wearing ski masks grabbed a 3- to 4-year-old boy from a park bench, threw him in a van, and sped off. Several chased after the car to try to rescue the boy. The truth came to light when a video was posted on Youtube and Facebook: the kidnaping was staged by twin brothers Jason and Jeremy Holden to create a video to “bring awareness of the dangers of child abduction.” Prosecutors considered criminal charges, but “Scaring the hell out of people is not, as far as I can determine, a crime,” said Sequim City Attorney Craig Ritchie. The brothers went on TV to apologize to the people they scared. (RC/Port Angeles Peninsula Daily News) ...Their next video will bring awareness of the dangers of forcing people to witness staged crimes.
