Let Them Eat Cake II

Ann and Ken Fredericks of Satellite Beach, Fla., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the way they celebrated every one before it: by having a bite of their wedding cake. “Everybody just looks at us with these amazed looks when they hear about it,” says Ann, who is 81. She explains that back then, fruitcake was a popular wedding cake, and they’ve kept it in a coffee can in their freezer ever since. They’ve invited their three children to join them in a bite from time to time, but “They won’t taste it,” Ken, 85, says. “Believe me, it’s quite tasty, as long as it’s got enough brandy on it,” Ann says. “And it’s never made us sick.” (RC/Florida Today) ...Of course not. Alcohol kills germs.
