Mexicans in the Trees

According to police affidavits, Martin Hoyer, 51, was on the second day of a methamphetamine binge in his Wenatchee, Wash., apartment when he saw “Mexicans in the trees...getting ready to jump out and attack him.” Hoyer then saw two more “Mexicans” go to a downstairs neighbor, urging her to open Hoyer’s door so they could rob him. According to the affidavit, Hoyer put his pistol in his waistband and went downstairs to save his neighbor from the Mexicans. The neighbor says she heard banging on her door, and when she opened it, she heard a loud bang, saw Hoyer fall to the ground, and heard him say, “Ow!” Hoyer’s gun had discharged when he tried to kick in the door. The bullet skipped off his hip joint and lodged in his scrotum. He was taken to the hospital and remained conscious and communicative while he was treated — then arrested on charges of first-degree assault, felony harassment, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was held on $50,000 bail. (MS/Yakima Herald) ...That took some balls.
