The California Highway Patrol in Oakland caught a dangerous scofflaw and announced it on Twitter: “This morning our officers stopped a doe for toll evasion, on the Bay Bridge. She said she usually pays it, but today she was a buck short.” The deer may actually have been male: a journalist looked at the CHP photo and saw horns. In any event, the beast (which actually stopped itself in front of a patrol car) wasn’t charged. Officers took its mug shot on the scene, and it eventually walked away. (AC/KQED San Francisco) ...If they’d known it was a buck, they’d have picked it up?
