Doug Stewart, convicted in 2010 of the murder of his wife, Venus Stewart, in southwest Michigan, is serving a life sentence. He upheld his end of a bargain with police: he led detectives to her body. “The criminal portion has been closed,” said Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Todd Petersen. “We just kept at it to help find closure for Venus’ family.” The cops’ side of the bargain: they had to give Stewart an Xbox game console.
