Secret Sauce

Shaneka Monique Torres, 29, says when she went to a McDonald’s in Grand Rapids, Mich., the drive-thru clerk got her burger order wrong. She went back and got an apology, and a promise for a free meal next time she returned. When she went back for her free burger at 3:00 a.m. the next morning, it was wrong again. Torres allegedly screamed at the window clerk, and fired a shot through the window. The clerk wasn’t injured. Police quickly caught up with Torres: when she made her complaint about the burger hours before, she left her name and phone number with the manager. Torres was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharge of a firearm in or at a building, and using a firearm for a felony. (RC/Grand Rapids Press) ...If everyone took a shot at McDonald’s for screwing up two orders in a row, every outlet would be full of holes.
Story Update: Torres tried her chances at a jury trial, offering the excuse that the shot fired was accidental. Jurors did’t buy it: she was convicted and sentenced to 3–7 years in prison. Her original complaint? The burger builder forgot her bacon.
