Shirty Teacher
Thomas Washburn was reportedly shouting in his kindergarten class. He is 54 years old and the teacher. A girl apparently got scared and used her shirt to hide; she is 6 and developmentally delayed. Washburn ordered the girl to get her face out of her shirt, and when she didn’t obey him, he took her shirt off. Then he continued his lecture while the stripped girl cried for 10 minutes before he finally let her put her shirt back on. Washburn told the girl’s mother at the end of the day, she told school administrators, and they called Mesa, Ariz., police. Washburn was initially booked on just two counts: one of child abuse and one of indecent exposure — there was an adult aide in the room. But detectives added 24 more counts of indecent exposure, one each for the students present.
