After the Labor and Delivery Unit at the Maine Medical Center in Portland announced nine of its nurses are pregnant, and then a New York hospital said they had that beat with 15, the Maine hospital’s Emergency Department stepped up to say Maine actually has the New Yorkers’ beat: 12 of the E.R.’s staff are also expecting, for a hospital total of 21. “Don’t drink the water in the ER at Maine Medical Center,” said E.R. nurse Melanie Ann Smithgall in a Facebook post. Which led a woman to comment, “I’ll take a gallon.” (RC/WCSH Portland) ...Maybe instead of drinking it, they should be spraying it on the couples.Original Publication Date: 14 April 2019
