Stay the Courier

Residents in northern Kansas City, Mo., say they had complained about their mail carrier, but the U.S. Postal Service might actually listen now, after the unnamed carrier tried to get his truck up an icy hill. “There was a point where, for almost 10 minutes straight, he did not let up on the gas,” says Brian Riley, yet he wasn’t moving the entire time. “He was pushing it beyond insanity, and you could just tell the way he was going that he was getting more and more mad the whole time.” The postie finally had to stop — and jump out to save his life — when his truck exploded into flame and slid on the ice down the hill, barely missing several cars and coming to rest on a home’s lawn. All the mail onboard burned, but there was one positive in the whole mess: “That’s the one and only time,” Riley said, “I’ve ever actually seen our mailman get out of his vehicle.” (RC/WDAF Kansas City) ...No mail to deliver?
