Peter Neupert, 54, made millions as an early Microsoft employee, then went out and made millions more with a “dotcom” startup. But he returned to Microsoft to lead a new effort: the Health Solutions Group he runs has 800 employees and its Amalga and HealthVault software is in use by more than 20 hospital providers nationwide. “At its core, health care really is an information-management business,” Neupert says. “This was an industry desperately in need of disruption,” he explains. “You need something like a Microsoft, someone with the size and scale and patience to have a big impact.” (RC/Newsweek) ...Which certainly gives new meaning to Microsoft’s “blue screen of death.”
