“Just got asked by a lady in a shop why I don’t speak English and not foreign muck to my baby,” Elin Jones, 32, “tweeted” in a Twitter post. Jones was speaking Welsh to her daughter — in Wales. “I have had [previous] comments from people saying ‘go back to your own country’,” she says. Jones was not only born in Wales, she’s a Plaid Cymru town councillor. Her tweet was “liked” tens of thousands of times, and retweeted more than 12,000 times.
