The caller said the car’s battery had died, but instead of heading that way, the tow-truck driver relayed the vehicle’s location to Oregon state troopers: they were looking for that car. The driver is accused of threatening his stepfather with a gun, and troopers and Deschutes County deputy sheriffs found Jeremy Hotha Thomas, 34, who was still waiting for the tow truck. His car battery, however, wasn’t the problem. According to authorities, he had put diesel into his gasoline-powered car. Thomas was charged with menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, burglary (he allegedly stole the fuel), theft, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and is being held without bail.
