Their Reputations Precede Them

“Over and over,” says Amanda Ryncarz, “Matthew led me to believe that we were going to get married.” Then, she said, her boyfriend of more than two years called to say things weren’t working between them, and within two weeks she learned he’d married someone else. So she posted a warning to a “liars and cheaters” web site, which is now the top hit on Google for searches for “Matt Couloute”. Couloute is a former prosecutor and Court TV analyst. He said that post and another such statement are costing him clients and wrecking his life, so he’s suing. The federal filing alleges “tortious interference with prospective business relations.” Ryncarz is being defended by Gloria Allred, who says the 77-word post is “free speech. Women must have a voice and be able to speak to each other on matters of common interest without fear of being dragged into court.” (AC/Fox News, AP) ...Suing people who criticize him will surely improve his reputation.
Author’s Note: As of 2018, a Google search for “Matt Couloute” still links first to a “cheater” web site.
