Right Here in River City!
A woman who was pulled over in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc., allegedly tried to get out of trouble by offering $10,000 and sex to the officer, saying she couldn’t afford another arrest because she’s already on probation. In addition to fifth-offense drunk driving and driving with a suspended license, the officer added a charge of attempted bribery and took her to jail. If convicted, she faces up to six years in prison. Elizabeth Ann Kommes, 30, of Iron Mountain, Mich., was easy for officers to find: witnesses called police after seeing her stagger across a parking lot to her car, a red Grand Am with vanity Michigan license plates reading “TROUBLE”. (Portage Daily Register) …At least she had a clear understanding of the stakes involved.

This page is an example of my style of “Thought-Provoking Entertainment”. This is True is an email newsletter that uses “weird news” as a vehicle to explore the human condition in an entertaining way. If that sounds good, click here to open a subscribe form.
To really support This is True, you’re invited to sign up for a subscription to the much-expanded “Premium” edition:
Q: Why would I want to pay more than the minimum rate?
A: To support the publication to help it thrive and stay online: this kind of support means less future need for price increases (and smaller increases when they do happen), which enables more people to upgrade. This option was requested by existing Premium subscribers.
