What Gets Priority Over a Shooting
While searching for the suspect in a shooting, sheriff’s deputies in Guthrie County, Iowa, got a tip he was hiding in a certain house. They went there and, while knocking on the door, noticed an “overwhelming odor of raw marijuana” coming from inside. Deputies surrounded the home while they waited for a search warrant; shooting suspect Rodney Halterman, 18, was not inside and was later captured elsewhere. The homeowners, Jamaica Mayor LaDonna Kennedy, 50, and her husband, Randy Kennedy, 58, were arrested on drug charges. The arrest report noted that they arrived at the home at 4:20 p.m. (RC/Des Moines Register) ...Move to strike, your honor: that’s clearly a case of leading the witness.Original Publication Date: 20 January 2019
