Where Next?

“The entire point of our effort was to offer a monument that would complement and contrast the Ten Commandments, reaffirming that we live in a nation that respects plurality, a nation that refuses to allow a single viewpoint to co-opt the power and authority of government institutions,” said Doug “Lucien Greaves” Mesner, a spokesman for the Satanic Temple, which created a 9-foot, nearly 1-ton statue of the occult idol Baphomet to place at the Oklahoma capitol. But now that the Oklahoma Supreme Court has said the Commandments have to go — a decision the Satanic Temple supports — there’s no need to put an alternative monument on the capitol grounds alongside them, and Baphomet is without a destination. For now, that is. “There are plenty of areas in the United States crying out for a counter-balance to existing graven tributes to archaic Abrahamic barbarism,” said Mesner. (AC/Washington Post) ...Because nothing counter-balances barbarism like a goat-headed god named for a Christian misspelling of “Muhammad.”
