Where’s the Earth-Shattering Kaboom?

The Loudon County, Va., sheriff’s office participated in a federal training exercise at Briar Woods High School. “After the exercise was over, one piece slipped out of the container and into the engine casing” of a school bus, said school spokesman Wayde Byard. “And that’s where we found it this week.” “It”? The CIA confirmed that it had “inadvertently” left “a container of an explosive material” behind, and coordinated closely with local authorities to recover the item. By the time it was discovered, though, the bus had made eight trips over a period of two days with 26 kids on board. Bayard said the device was harmless without a specialized blasting cap to activate it. “So its not something that if you picked it up off the street you could blow up,” he said.
