You Can’t Go Home Again

Aaron Orlando Rodriguez III, 20, was arrested for attempted car theft and prowling after trying to steal a car in Fort Pierce, Fla. The car was parked at the police station. Well, not just that, but it was a “clearly marked” police patrol vehicle. Well, not just that, but an on-duty officer was sitting in it. Officer Robie Troutman was in the front seat writing a report when he heard someone try the handle on the back door — and then the front passenger door. That door opened, but when Rodriguez caught sight of the officer sitting behind the wheel, he ran. Troutman called for backup, and found Rodriquez hiding nearby. Rodriguez admitted “he attempted to steal the vehicle so he had a ride home,” Troutman wrote in his report.
