“Just Say No” (to Seatbelts)

Sheriff’s deputies from Leon County and Franklin County, Fla., worked together at a traffic checkpoint — and noticed a car turn so it wouldn’t have to go through. The driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, which was enough cause to pull the car over, and a drug-sniffing dog alerted to smells coming from the car. A search discovered 31.6 grams of cocaine, numerous other drugs, a set of digital scales, and $1,637 in cash. The driver, Paul W. Byrd Jr., 63, was arrested, then released after paying a $28,000 bond. Byrd has resigned from his job: he was assistant superintendent of the Leon County School District, and had 29 years on the job. (RC/Apalachicola Times) ...Sitting in a school for 29 years doesn’t mean he learned anything.
