Dreck Box

It sat on Best Buy’s shelves honestly labeled a “Useless Plastic Box.” A sign said: “Another gadget you don’t really need. Will not work once you get home. New model out in 4 weeks. Battery life is too short to be of use.” But one part of the labeling was false: the electronics chain wasn’t actually selling the Useless Plastic Box for $99.99, or any other price. UPBs had been placed at various Los Angeles area Best Buy locations by “Plastic Jesus,” a 48-year-old prank artist, and stayed on the shelves for up to five days. “I, like many people out there, am a gadget freak,” he explained. “I rush out and get the new iPhone when it comes out, but so often you are left disappointed.” Plastic Jesus said Best Buy employees have emailed him about buying UPBs.
