For Their Wounds, Free Flesh-Colored Band-Aids

The Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, issued a calendar to showcase “diversity” in the region. “We need to lead by example,” says Tony Ince, Minister of African-Nova Scotian Affairs. Unfortunately, he says, the calendar is a bad example, since all of the people shown in its pages are white. “At the time we thought what we were doing was fair,” said Ruth Grant of the government agency that produced the calendar.
