Heh Heh Heh — He Said “Take a Hit”

Michael Pristoop, the Chief of Police in Annapolis, Md., is upset that people are making fun of him. “It’s disheartening to have our chief attacked,” said department spokeswoman Cpl. Amy Miguez. When the chief saw a headline that proclaimed, “Marijuana Overdoses Kill 37 in Colorado on First Day of Legalization”, he relayed the story to the state legislature to urge them not to pass proposed legislation to legalize the drug there. The story Pristoop saw was on a satirical web site; there are no confirmed cases of anyone dying from a marijuana overdose ever, let alone 37 in one day in one state. “And they call pot smokers dumb,” said one observer. “Just think how smart the rest of the force is,” said another. Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides said Pristoop’s statement was a simple mistake, and the city’s reputation won’t take a hit, at least long term. “Luckily people that smoke pot,” the mayor said, “have short-term memory loss.” (RC/Annapolis Capital Gazette) ...Unfortunately, so do voters.
