Holy Roller

Garry D. Meyer, 61, the treasurer of the Tri-County Baptist Church in West Chester Twp., Pa., pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the church, but prosecutors kept delaying finalizing a plea bargain because the more they investigated, the more the money added up. Initial investigation found Meyer had stolen about $400,000 from the church, leading to aggravated theft charges — a third-degree felony. Later, investigators raised the total to $637,000, then $802,000, which kicked the crime to a second-degree felony. Meyer was sentenced to 5 years in prison after admitting to spending the money over a 14-year period on frequent trips to Florida, “adult” entertainment, drugs, and “high-end escorts.” (RC/Hamilton Journal-News) ...And the rest, sadly, was wasted.
