Introducing New Bonus Items with Your Frequent Flier Miles
When Nicole Squires unpacked after her flight from Edmonton, Alta., to Kelowna, B.C., Canada, she discovered some new items in her checked luggage. “I opened it and a beer fell out, so my initial reaction was I grabbed someone else’s luggage,” Squires said. “But then I continued to go through and saw a man’s outfit, jeans, one shoe, slippers, and five Coors Light!” She went to Twitter to ask WestJet for an explanation, and the airline responded: “What happens in Vegas....” — and that’s it. “I didn’t know whether to laugh or be angry about their response,” Squires said. “It was pretty inappropriate for sure.” The interaction went viral, and WestJet asked her to call, but according to Squires the response to her call was less than ideal. “WestJet didn’t really seem to care,” Squires said. “They told me to file an online complaint.” Eventually, she was able to reach a resolution with the company, which apologized for its “off the mark” Twitter humor. “I do think that they handled things really poorly, but I won’t not fly with WestJet because of that,” she said. “I’ll for sure always lock my bags though!” (MS/CTV) ...Meanwhile, on Facebook, someone is complaining WestJet “stole” his beer.Original Publication Date: 08 November 2015
