What God Has Joined Together, Let No One Separate
James Olds is very sympathetic to his wife, what with the stress of caring for him. Olds, of Bartow, Fla., has multiple sclerosis and is wheelchair-bound, and he knows that puts a burden on his wife of 25 years, Cherry, a college professor. “Somehow my baby snapped and I can’t help but think that I was responsible for her snapping,” he said. “She put the pillow over my face, and I just said, ‘did you try to kill me?’ And she said, ‘that’s the point’,” he says. “And then she came at me the second time.” But, he says, “I just want everybody to know that I’ve always loved my wife. I always will love my wife and I still do today.” Why? “I’ll pin it on first Corinthians chapter 13 verse four and five, I’ll love my wife unconditionally.” But that doesn’t mean he wants her around: Cherry Olds is being held without bond, charged with second-degree attempted murder, and James Olds wants a restraining order against her to be in force should she ever be let out. He has also filed for divorce not over the attempted murder, but because he learned she has been having an affair.
