It’s Going to Be Hell
During his 2010 election bid, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, now 73, declared that “Alabamians should work together to protect traditional marriage.” So it was a bit of a surprise in 2015 when his wife of 50 years divorced him. Now we know why: a recording has surfaced of Bentley, a Republican and a deacon at Tuscaloosa’s First Baptist Church, telling his senior advisor that “I love that” when he stands behind her to feel her breasts. He tells her 14 times in the recording that he loves her, too. Rebekah Mason, 44, is married and has school-aged children. “If we are going to do what we did the other day, we are going to have to start locking the door,” he tells her. “I know we are in a difficult situation. Unless I make things as normal as possible here, it is going to be hell.” The recording was made by a family member hoping for an “intervention” with the governor. In a press conference, Bentley admitted he made “inappropriate” sexual comments to Mason, but denied having a “physical affair” with her. (RC/Birmingham News) ...Next he’ll start talking about “What the definition of ‘is’ is.”Original Publication Date: 27 March 2016
