She Is What She Consumes

A woman in Redding, Calif., called police to say she thought her boyfriend had been abusing her 4-year-old son. They met her at a hospital as requested, but it didn’t take much investigation to clear the boyfriend: what she thought were signs of abuse turned out to be diaper rash, which police attributed to the mother’s neglect of her son. Contributing to that, they say, is her apparently being a meth addict: she appeared “high” to the officers, who noted that a container of apparent meth fell out of her shirt. She admitted she had been awake for four days, and not taking care of her son. The 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with methamphetamine possession, and child endangerment. Her name: Zara Crank. (RC/Redding Searchlight) ...If she didn’t need any sleep, then why was the house such a mess?
