Stupid Supremacists — the Ongoing Story

An anti-immigrant group in Norway is a laughingstock after a member posted a photo on its Facebook page protesting the ‘Islamification’ of Norway — burka-clad women filled the bus. The member of Fedrelandet viktigst (“roughly translated as ‘Fatherland first’,” Local Norway says) asked, “What do people think about this?” Responses from among the 13,000 members of the group ranged from “frightening” to “tragic” and “scary,” while others charged the women may have “weapons and bombs” hidden in their burkas. “It looks really scary, should be banned,” one posted. Another urged, “Get them out of our country!” More rational observers thought the photo was hilarious: it doesn’t show burka-clad women, but rather the fabric of empty seats. “People see what they want to see and what they want to see are dangerous Muslims,” said Rune Berglund of Antirasistisk senter — the Norwegian Centre Against Racism. “In a way it’s an interesting test of how quickly people can find confirmations of their own delusions.” (RC/Local Norway) ...Especially in the Facebook echo chamber.
