This time, it’s targeting Henan, Anhui, Hebei, and Jiangsu provinces. The hot homages, which endure in some rural communities, may be meant to gather crowds to bring good luck to the dead or come from traditions of honoring fertility, but they’ve also been blamed on modern decadence and vanity.
