The Wisdumb of Solomon

Holly Nicole Solomon, now 31, got into a fight with her husband while driving in Gilbert, Ariz., in 2012. She was upset because her husband hadn’t voted in the presidential election, because she “believed her family was going to face hardship” due to Barack Obama’s re-election. Apparently she felt that his vote would have changed the 65,915,796 (Obama) to 60,933,500 (Romney) popular vote result, or the 332 to 206 electoral vote result. (Romney won handily in Arizona.) To escape his wife’s ire, Daniel Solomon, now 39, pulled the Jeep over and got out, but Holly jumped behind the wheel and chased after him. Daniel tried to run, but Holly was faster and ran him down. Holly claimed she was just trying to “scare him,” but accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake; Daniel was left in critical condition, but has mostly recovered ...and divorced Holly. Mrs. Solomon rejected a plea deal that would have resulted in as little as two years in prison — because she could also have received 15 years in prison. After trial, she was sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison. (RC/Arizona Republic) ...Sure enough, the family has since faced hardship.
