Who Do You Call About Something Like This?

Laszlo Piszker, 74, was driving in Winnipeg, Man., Canada, with his wife when he was pulled over by police. He was given a citation for talking on a cellphone while driving. The fine: C$199.80 (US$200). The problem: he wasn’t talking on a cellphone; he doesn’t even own one, he says. He even challenged the officers to search his car, but “they were just going crazy, going to arrest me, and they were nasty to my wife as well.” Piszker went to the media, so the police issued a statement as well. The facts are “contradictory to the information that has been depicted in the local media,” the Winnipeg Police Service says, and suggests the pensioner take the case to court.
